Toshiba launched Protege Z830 ultrabook in India. Weighing just 1.12kg and only 15.9mm thick at its thickest point, Portege Z830 is considered sleekest and slimmest ultrabook in the world at the moment.
However all this sleekness has a rather steep price. Toshiba said that the ultrabook would be sold at an MRP of Rs 96,290.
This makes Portege Z830 the most expensive ultrabook in Indian market at the moment. Apart from Toshiba, Lenovo, HP, Samsung, Asus and Acer have also launched ultrabooks in India.
The concept of the ultrabook - slim and sleek design, premium build quality and SSD as storage - was announced by Intel last year. The company, which makes processors that power over 80% of all personal computers, hopes that the slim laptops would allow it to take on tablets like iPad and Galaxy Tab, almost all of which are powered by ARM processors.
Toshiba said that for Portege Z830, consumers would have option to choose from Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors. It has a 13.3-inch screen with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, 128GB SSD, and a battery life of up to 8 hours. There is provision for up to 6GB DDR3 RAM.
"The Portege Z380 is a testimony to Toshiba's engineering achievement and expert craftsmanship. I feel the ultrabook will be a great value for both mobile business professionals and consumers," said Shivakumar N, vice president at Toshiba India.
